Events in Manchester From 31st August – 6th September 2026

As early September arrives, Manchester has a lot going on with events for everyone. If you’re looking for something to do this week, you’ll find a big focus on music, from alternative sounds to country and broader festival experiences. Freight Island will likely have outdoor performances, but parking can be tricky. Alongside these larger events, you can find intimate performances by artists, electronic music nights, and tribute parties at venues across the city. It's worth checking out the independent venues that make Manchester's nightlife special. Beyond the music, there are plenty of chances to meet people. Throughout the week, you’ll find events designed to help you connect, with speed dating for different ages and interests. For foodies, a food and drink festival is happening, offering a range of tastes. This adds to Manchester’s well-known food scene and is easy to reach using the Bee Network. If you enjoy comedy, you'll also find options for performances, including interactive revues and stand-up shows. Canal Street has a high concentration of entertainment, but can get crowded. The city ensures there's always something new to experience, whether it’s a large outdoor festival, a focused musical performance, or a chance to meet new people. Using Metrolink or rail is recommended to get to these events, due to limited parking in the city centre.
